The Olympic Park

The post games Olympic Park - officially renamed the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in January 2013 - will have two distinct area. The South Park will retain the Stadium, the wave shaped Aquatics Centre and the ArcelorMittal Orbit sculpture, and will be a hub for sports and other events. In contrast, the area to the north of the river will be home to parklands, five new residential neighbourhoods and a business campus.
The VeloPark will reopen for local use and Eton Manor will become the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre. The park will reopen to the public in stages, beginning with part of the North Park in July 2013.
In the meantime, there are great views from the Greenway, which - along with topaths beside the the River Lea - is a diverting route for an afternoon's walk or cycle ride. The recycled shipping containers of the View Tube provide all the information you might need about the Park - and on the ground floor, hot and cold snacks in the busy little Container Cafe
